The Municipality of San Agustin, Surigao del Sur received a recognition for one of the top 15 listed Local Government Units (LGUs) across the region that secured 5th place in the Mindanao ranking of the Tourism Champion Challenge (TCC) during the Awarding Ceremony at PICC Pasay City. The Tourism Champion Challenge (TCC) is a nationwide campaign by the DOT aimed at fostering tourism development across cities and municipalities.
The award, worth P7 million pesos, was personally handed by President Ferdinand Marcos together with Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin and Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco. It was received by San Agustin Municipal Mayor, Engr. Nicolas O. Alameda, and Municipal Planning and Development Officer, Engr. Gremar M. Lamela, for their project “Construction of Tourist Catwalk at Gata to Bretania Mangrove Areas.”
